Captain Rahman is a native of Natick, MA. He entered the Army National Guard in February 1993 through September 1998. Captain Rahman re-entered the Army Reserve in September 1998 through April 2001.  Captain Rahman was commissioned in April 2001, as a Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps in the United States Army Reserve.

Captain Rahman is a graduate of the US Army Signal Officer Advanced Course, Fort Gordon, Georgia.  In addition to the Advanced Course, his military education includes the Combined Arms Exercise Course, Interservice Space Fundamentals and Intelligence Operations Course (USAF), NATO CIOR Young Reserve Officer’s Workshop in Gent, Belgium, Joint Staff Officer Indoctrination Course, Signal Officer Basic Course, Advanced and Basic Non-Commissioned Officer’s Course, the US Army Drill Sergeant School, Primary Leadership Development Course and the Judge Advocate General’s Specialist Course.  Captain Rahman’s civilian education includes Bachelor of Science degrees in Management of Information Systems, Electrical Engineering Technology and Marketing from the University of Massachusetts and graduate work in Entrepreneurship from Babson College in Wellesley, MA.

Prior to serving in his current position, Captain Rahman served as Commander, 1st Troop, 4th JCS (USAR), Joint Communications Support Element (Airborne); Commander, Company B, 2-397th Regiment, 100th Division; Chief, CIO Support Officer, US Central Command J-6, MacDill AFB (Operation Enduring Freedom); Commander, Company C, 1-397th Regiment, 100th Division; Battle Captain, 335th Theater Signal Command and Coalition Forces Land Component Command C-6, Camp Doha, Kuwait (Operation Iraqi Freedom); and Executive Officer, Company D, 1-397th Regiment, 100th Division.  Preceding these assignments, Captain Rahman served as in several enlisted positions including: Basic Training Drill Sergeant at Fort Knox, KY; Legal NCO for the Staff Judge Advocate, 28th Infantry Division, Harrisburg, PA; Information Systems Analyst, Directorate of Information Management, RI Army National Guard; and Select Honor Guard, MA National Guard Ceremonial Unit (MANGCU). 

Captain Rahman’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with Oak Leaf cluster), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with Two Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (with Three Oak Leaf Clusters), National Defense Service Medal (with Bronze Service Star), Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Bronze Hourglass, “M” and “2” Devices), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with Numeral “3”), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, Joint Meritorious Unit Award (with Oak Leaf cluster), Combat Action Badge, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge and USAF Space Badge. 

In the private sector, Captain Rahman is an imaging consultant for the Dell Corporation.  Captain Rahman is married to the former Kristen Hanel of Louisville, KY, and has one daughter, Alison.
