Rami
H. Islam
Lieutenant Junior Grade, USN
Rami Islam serves as the Communication Officer onboard USS
LABOON (DDG 58). Born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, Rami
is an Old Dominion University graduate with a bachelor of science in criminal
justice. He is the son of Hesham Islam, CDR United States Navy (Retired), and
is carrying on a five generation family tradition of Naval Service.
LtJG Islam earned his Surface Warfare Officer designation during his initial sea
duty tour on the USS LABOON (DDG 58) serving with the ship's Operation’s
Department. Currently, LtJG Islam is serving as the Electrical Officer in the
Engineering Department onboard the USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70).
On his initial sea tour he was deployed to the Arabian Gulf and the Atlantic
Ocean in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and other multinational exercises
and operations.
LtJG Islam’s personal awards include the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal
(first award) National Defense Medal (first award), Sea Service award (first
award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism
Expeditionary Medal.
