Chief Command Master Sergeant Todd A. Kabalan

 BACKGROUND:

Chief Master Sgt. Todd A. Kabalan grew up in Ontario, Calif., and is a graduate of Chaffey Union High School. He enlisted in the Air Force in August 1978. Upon completion of basic training and security police training at Lackland Air Force Base, he was transferred to Goodfellow AFB, Texas, where he served as a Patrolman with the 3480th Security Police Squadron. In 1981, he received orders to Korea as a Security Response Team Leader with the 51st Security Police Squadron, Osan Air Base, Korea.

Upon return from Korea, Chief Master Sgt. Kabalan returned to the 3480th SPS as a patrolman until he was transferred to Camp Bullis,  Texas, as an instructor supervisor with the Air Force Security Police Academy, 3287th Technical Training Squadron. During this period, he earned the John L. Levitow award at the Noncommissioned Officer Leadership School at Lackland AFB in 1985 and attended the NCO Academy in 1987. During this period, he also obtained his Associate in Applied Science Degree in Industrial Security from the Community College of the Air Force, Maxwell AFB.

In 1989, he finished his second Associate in Applied Science Degree from the Community College of the Air Force, this time in Instructional Technology, and was transferred to the school as a Degree Program Administrator. In 1993, he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Troy State University in Montgomery, Ala. He transferred back to Korea - this time to Kunsan AB as a Point Air Defense (stinger missile) Superintendent with the 8th Security Police Squadron.

In November 1994, Chief Master Sgt. Kabalan assumed duty as Security Police Superintendent for the 790th Security Police Squadron and 400th and 321st Missile Squadrons, F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo. In August 1996, he was temporarily assigned as Chief Security Police, 4412th Rescue Squadron [Provisional], Kuwait City International Airport, Kuwait, until November 1996. After returning, he became a distinguished graduate from the USAF Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Gunter, Ala., in 1997.

In December 1997, he transferred to Yokota AB, Japan, as Security Forces Manager, 374th Security Forces Squadron until November 2001, where he was dual billeted as Chief Enlisted Manager, 90th Operations Group, and Security Forces Manager, 90th Security Forces Group, F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo.

Chief Master Sgt. Kabalan served as the Command Chief Master Sergeant, 354th Fighter Wing, Eielson AFB, Alaska, from June 2003 until Oct 2005. He assumed his current post as Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, United States Central Command on Oct. 1, 2005.

Chief Master Sgt. Kabalan's decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Achievement Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with eight oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with bronze star device, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Bronze Excellence-in-Competition Pistol Badge.
