THE HONORABLE PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH RECOGNIZES U.S. MUSLIM
GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES AT White House IFTAR Dinner held on Monday October 16th,
2006
Jamal Baadani joins 12 other U.S. Muslim Government employees at the
White House for Ramdan Iftar hosted by our President George W. Bush. In
addition, over 100 Muslim dignitaries, Deputy Director, National Security
Council, Dr. J.D. Crouch, and Secretary of State, Ms. Condoleezza Rice, were
also in attendance. Prior to the IFTAR Dinner, Imam Faizul Khan led the call
to prayer, followed by the Mughrib Salat (Sunset Prayer) in the White House.
Our President said, "Islam is a religion that brings hope and comfort to
more than a billion people around the world. It has transcended racial and
ethnic divisions. It has given birth to a rich culture of learning and
literature and science. And tonight we honor the traditions of a great faith by
hosting the Iftaar here at the White House."
