Sergeant, U.S. Marine Corps Reserves
Name: Hariton Marachilian
Rank: Sergeant
Branch: US Marine Corps
Status: Reserves
Billet: Infantry
MOST PEOPLE (AMERICANS OR ARABS) THINK IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO BE BOTH PRO-AMERICAN
AND PRO-ARAB.
I joined the Marine Corps Reserve in Feb, 1998 and have since been serving
honorably and wish to continue serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserve
for many more years to come. I am currently working towards my BS in criminal
justice at John Jay College in NYC, and hope to gain employment with the NYPD.
As for my family heritage, I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, while my
father was born and raised in Egypt to an Armenian father and Lebanese mother.
My mother was born and raised in Palestine to Palestinian parents. Both of my
parents emigrated to the United States in the early 70's. Being pro-American and
pro-Arab has always been hard, however nothing has been harder than having my
loyalty questioned after Sept, 11.
