An Open Letter
Dear Friends,
As you may have heard or read, I have been bestowed the title of
Ambassador to the United States by His Majesty the King, Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al
Khalifa. I am deeply honored and, frankly, a little humbled by the trust and
confidence my nation has placed in me. It is a role I will cherish every minute
of my tenure.
When I was appointed Economic Representative, in August 2003, the landscape of
relations between the United States and Bahrain was quite different from what it
is today as the US-Bahrain Free Trade Agreement was just taking shape.
I am very proud of the work we did to enhance economic (and personal) relations
between our two nations. The friendships I have formed in my role as Economic
Representative and the lasting relationships that have resulted are ones that I
cherish and ones that will serve me well as I expand my duties beyond economic
development.
The process of seeking common ground and understanding holds profound
implications for us all. We have the power to enhance opportunities for both
peoples and to reshape our fundamental understanding of what U.S.-Gulf
partnerships can be. There are challenges and hard work ahead, to be sure, but
I'm confident there is nothing we cannot overcome if we work together.
Of this I am certain, nowhere will I find a more welcoming host than the
American people, nor a more inviting nation than the United States of America.
Today, the future looks very bright. I am eager to return to Washington to begin
the next phase of my life. I look forward to greeting all of you soon.
Thank you for your friendship and support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Naser M. Al Belooshi
Ambassador
